Springwell School

Assessment

Statutory End of Key Stage assessments

Springwell pupils are assessed on national statutory assessments at the end of the Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage 2.

EYFS

Currently, all of our EYFS pupils are disapplied from the EY Baseline due to their complex needs and working below the level of the baseline.   We monitor and track progress using Tapestry and then submit Foundation Stage Profile assessments at the end of the summer term to the local Authority.

Key Stage 1

All pupils are working below the levels of statutory testing. Pupils not engaging in subject specific study are assessed on the Engagement Model.

Key Stage 2

Our pupils are assessed on the Pre-Key stage standards or the Engagement Model at the end of KS2. All pupils are working below the levels of statutory testing.

This year, all pupils in Year 1 (and Year 2) have been disapplied from the Phonics test as they are working below the level of the test. Similarly, all pupils in Year 4 have been disapplied from the Phonics test as they are working below the level of the test.

Springwell continues to assess pupils using our internal system, The Assessment Tree, and set aspirational IEP targets in 5 key areas (Cognition Reading, Cognition Writing, Cognition Number, Communication and PSHE).
