Attendance Offier

Overview

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Attendance Officer reporting to the Safeguarding & Attendance Lead. The successful candidate will be a committed individual who will develop a comprehensive understanding of our pupil’s attendance needs, be responsible for maintaining an effective and accurate attendance system and will be dedicated to improving attendance levels by providing guidance to our families.

Key Accountabilities

• Take a lead role in the daily operational aspects of attendance, in accordance with Springwell policy and procedure

• Support the delivery of the daily operational needs of the role by following the Springwell Safeguarding and Child Protection policies and guidance

• Follow up absence with parents with regard to attendance matters and be responsible for internal absence processes and associated documentation

• Liaise and work collaboratively with parents/carers and staff, providing support and advice on attendance matters where appropriate

• Carry out home visits, where appropriate, promoting measures to break down barriers between home and school and encourage full and regular attendance and punctuality

• Liaise with school staff, as appropriate, and attend meetings to discuss, formulate and agree family/pupil action plans relating to attendance concerns

• Lead the termly EWO attendance audit and collate data

• Maintain appropriate attendance records, collate and analyse data and produce reports for governors

• Liaise with the Pastoral Team and Phase Assistant Heads on medical, home and safeguarding concerns that may have an impact on pupil attendance

• Maintain strong positive relationships with external agencies, professionals and organisations in regard to improving school attendance

• Act upon concerns and issues shared by staff, in liaison with the Safeguarding and Attendance Lead and in partnership working with external agencies

• Support the collation of information required for referrals to CRS, Child Protection Conferences, and referrals to Early Help and Jigsaw, as directed by the Safeguarding and Attendance Lead

• Provide relevant information to parents/carers around school attendance and signpost local services available to support parents, children and families

• Support the day-to-day health and well-being of pupils, in support of the Pastoral Team

Salary from £19369 to £22916 per year
